MATTERS FOR PRAYER AND PRAISE
Prayer & Praise email address: AltaBapPrayer@aol.com

Prayer, Praise, and Privacy: This page is focused on members of our congregation. We want to assure guests to our website that if you ask for prayer, it will not show up here. We've also started a new policy that, even for the congregation prayers, we will only put the initial of the last name.

Prayer Quote of the Week:
“Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” Deuteronomy 5:16 (NIV)

Matters For Prayer And Praise
❖ Prayer focus for this week: Dorothy E in Colorado Springs, Colorado, working with Native Americans. “I am asking a favor of ya’ll: Please pray about my financial situation. Since Art went to heaven, my financial support has gradually diminished until now it has reach ¼ of what we both received four years ago. Thank you for blessing my life.”
❖ Jo W: Thank you for your prayers for my travels to granddaughter Emily’s graduation. Our Lord saw me through a challenging, but blessed trip.
❖ Jean B requests prayer as he travels internationally. Pray also for his son Patrick, who recently traveled to another country. Pray for their families.
❖ Emy R asks prayer for her sister-in-law Mila L, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She will have surgery soon.
❖ Jill Z suffered a fall this week. No broken bones, but lots of pain. Please remember her in prayer.
❖ Roland W asks prayer for his family. Also, pray for his boss, Art, that God grants him wisdom in his decisions.
❖ Updates on Lois and Marie: Lois had successful surgery for her second kidney transplant in Australia. Her donor, Elaine, is also doing very well. Marie was diagnosed with cancer some years ago. She was doing well, until about three weeks ago, when her doctor confirmed that 5 new tumors have occurred.

Financial Challenge Response –Last week we shared some interesting responses to ABC's current financial challenge. We had written that the effect on our operating budget due to the loss of rental income from the Community Life Fellowship after June 30 would be just under $200 per week. A few days ago we received a card from a former member family who have moved some distance away. Enclosed were two $200 checks, written on separate bank accounts, one from the wife and the other from the husband. A note on the card read: "This is for two weeks; Love you guys." This inspired and encouraged us in the church office, so we decided to share it with you.

Community Life Fellowship will hold their last worship service at ABC on Saturday, May 19 at 6:00 PM. Their congregation will be joining New Hope Christian Fellowship, a sister church in Eagle Rock. You are invited to meet with them this last time to bless them as they go. We would love to have a representative group of ABCers send them off with love and prayers.

Our Condolences to Harvey G on the death of his brother Irving, who died last week. Cards may be sent to (call church for address).

Ariel P C, a college student, needs to rent a studio apartment. If you are able to help with this need, please call church address for phone numbers.

Tess C will be visiting California September 10-28. She is asking if anyone can lend her a car while she is here. She is planning a trip to San Diego during that time. Tess was a regular attender at ABC some years ago when she was a doctoral student at Fuller Seminary. She is currently the President of Alpha Omega International College in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, a Bible College seeking to develop Christian leaders.

In addition, Tess has a Malaysian pastor friend who is going to be at Fuller for about a year. He's looking for a room to rent, or a place that will allow him to stay in exchange for work. He will be here in July. Please contact Pastor Connie if you are able to help with these needs.

Housing Is Needed! Garth, Shandra, Quinn and Evan B need housing, May 31– June 10. If you are able to help with this need, even for one week, please contact Garth or Shandra.

Lift Project – Part of the Project involves redesigning the downstairs bathrooms so they will be Handicapped Accessible, meeting all ADA requirements. This will mean enlarging both rooms. We are at the stage when the old walls are being torn down and the floor will be broken up for new plumbing. During the next few weeks, expect a little inconvenience. Here's the situation for now: The Men's Room has been temporarily changed into a lockable Unisex bathroom. In addition, two rented portable toilets have been placed at the rear of the church, along with a stand-alone sink for hand-washing. We believe these provisions will meet the needs of people who use the church building for Sunday services as well as weekday activities. Thanks for your patience. Reminder: We still need your donation to be able to complete the Lift Project without leaving the church in a financial hole

Foster Family Agency

How to get started? Again, staff from Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services will be here on Sunday, June 3, immediately following the morning service to speak with anyone interested in the program. Start time is 12:45 p.m.
